Shire Boys walk away with a convincing win with 14 tries to 3 against a strong Ardrossan side!
After a spate of cancelled fixtures we travelled to Ardrossan on Sunday to take on their u14 boys. We were all keen to get a game as the boys have been putting the effort in in training and showing great progress.
This was a proper team performance with each and every player putting in a brilliant effort, showing how well they have bonded and how far they have come.
Handling was generally good. Some great scrummaging and rucking again, showing big improvement.
The game was played as two thirty minutes, with Ardrossan being tested from the start.
Stuart and Alexander were on great form, chasing down kicked balls and putting the opposition under pressure. The rest of the team showing grit and determination to provide back up.
Stuart scored his first try with the team with a great run ploughing through the opposition. George and Aidan scored two apiece, Theo one and Lee five. Some strong direct running from Aidan and Lee to score. Aidan taking the instruction to go hard and low to heart. Real tenacity from Lee to never give up, making a try saving tackle before the opposition managed to ground the ball.
George had his golden boot on, getting all bar one conversion. He also made good ground, got plenty tackles in and showed his usual determined attitude, game awareness and superb team spirit.
Fraser was showing some real determination and edge. Rylan rose to the challenge of moving into the front row for part of the game. It was great to see Archie and Thomas back getting involved.
Man of the match was a tricky one. So many of the boys played really well. The sheer determination and team spirit were great to see. A resounding victory after a break from competitive rugby, was a testament to the hard work these boys are putting in week in week out.
The coaches were in agreement that man of the match was well earned by Calder Farquhar, who took on the role of scrum half for the first time, and did all that was asked of him and more.
Well done boys. You are pleasure to watch!!
